Naan, Roti, and Paratha (Bread)

What's the difference between Naan, Roti, and Paratha? Naan bread, or just naan, is a thick, baked bread made of leavened wheat and all-purpose flour, also known as maida and baked in a tandoor oven which makes the naan crispy, soft and delicious. Roti is a staple in most Indians’ diets and are similar to a tortilla. Roti is made with water, wheat and light spices and are traditionally heated on a skillet but can be baked in a tandoor oven. Parathas are made primarily with wheat flour, as they do not rise and are heated on a skillet, not baked in a tandoor. Parathas are thicker and are often stuffed with spices and another filling. Parathas are often heartier than roti, and are very, very filling. Parathas can be eaten as a meal with yogurt and mango pickle.
