Buenos Aires, Colombia
Apologies for any confusion. Argentina, to our knowledge, does not produce specialty coffee. Finca Buenos Aires in Colombia, however, does. And while this is the first time we’ve used this name on our bags, it’s far from the first time we’ve featured coffee from this farm.
Israel Hernandez is Huck-famous for his Gesha - floral, complex, and an annual special release for us! We’ve been roasting Israel’s Gesha since his very first harvest, but Israel and his farm, Finca Buenos Aires, are more than just one variety. While Israel always takes great pains on his fancy stuff, he’s traditionally processed his caturra variety with a bit less attention to detail, selling it for quicker, easier cash to the local cooperative.
No nose-up judgment there - every farmer can make their own decisions on how to run their farm, and the extra effort to produce specialty is not always worth it. Still, we’ve always been curious about Israel’s non-Gesha, and this year, he took a bit of extra care with a...

Cerro Ahuaca, Ecuador
Cerro Ahuaca is a new coffee for us at Huck, but in many ways, a return to comforting flavors we’ve roasted - and loved - from Ecuador in the past!
Last year we started to source Ecuadorian coffee through The Coffee Quest and Capamaco Trading Company. We remain floored by the fruity, tangy, and wild El Sauce, but also realized that we were missing some of the sweet, full-bodied, approachable goodness we’ve enjoyed from Ecuador in the past. Enter Cerro Ahuaca.
The Cerro Ahuaca mountain dominates the horizon near the town of Cariamanga, in Southern Ecuador, and Servio Pardo, Maria Esperanza Molina, and Diego Jumbo all grow coffee on its slopes. While each of the farms is small, the three combined to produce enough coffee for us to roast over a few months here in Denver, and it’s a stellar example of classic, washed Latin American coffee!
While we can’t guarantee both will be around for the same amount of time, we highly recommend trying El Sauce and Cerro Ahuaca next to each other wh...

Familia Schiavo, Brazil
Brazil is still a relatively new feature on the Huck single origin menu, and we’re excited to have the Schiavo family back for the second year running!
As a whole, Brazil has a reputation for massive farms, flat terrain, and boring-if-consistent quality. While we’ve learned that’s not the case if you’re working with the right people, some things are common throughout most of the bigger coffee-growing regions, even on the smaller farms. The climate is warm and dry, farms generally focus on natural-processing (even if it doesn’t always taste super fruity), and the farms tend to be both flatter and less-shaded than we’re accustomed to in other parts of Latin America.
Espirito Santo is an outlier. This region is actually quite hilly, with a cooler and more humid climate, and more access to water. As a result of that water, farmers can produce washed coffee, and as a result of that humidity, they have to at least remove the cherry skin before drying, to prevent mold and other defect...

Phantom Gesha
The Silva-Fernandez family and their farm, Finca La Pomarrosa, produce wonderful coffees, and we look forward to their fruit-forward Colosay Bourbon every season.
A few years back, the family renovated part of their farm with Gesha, and this year was their first full harvest!
Gesha (or sometimes Geisha, depending on who you ask) is a coffee variety native to Western Ethiopia, but it’s become famous in Latin America. Starting with the 2004 Panama Cup of Excellence, Gesha has been winning national coffee and international barista competitions ever since, thanks to its intense floral and citrus flavors.
Merci Fernandez, along with her parents Felix and Violeta, decided to experiment with both washed and natural processes for the first harvest, and thankfully, gave Huck first dibs on both! While both coffees were great on their own, there wasn’t too much of either, and with a bit more washed than natural, this presented an opportunity to riff on a Huck mainstay.

Rambagirakawa Natural, Rwanda
Spring is a time for Southern Hemisphere coffees to shine, and we’re excited to roast two coffees from the Rambagirakawa Women’s Group - a delicious + complex washed coffee, plus this big and fruit-forward natural!
Rambagirakawa is a subgroup of the larger Dukundekawa Musasa Cooperative, made up of quality-driven female farmers, and this is Huckleberry’s second year roasting coffee from the Rambagirakawa group. While our washed Rambagirakawa is elegant, this natural from the same group takes some of those flavors, then dials up the intensity of the fruit. The white cherry and cookie notes we taste in the washed coffee transform into a sugary cherry pie, complemented by concord grape juice and a bit of cocoa.
We’ve sourced the past several harvest of Rwandan coffee through Artisan Imports, who focuses on working with women’s producer groups in Rwanda. We’ve roasted some delicious coffees, but beyond coffee, all of the groups Artisan works with focus on helping its members attain hig...

Rambagirakawa, Rwanda
Late winter into spring is a time for Southern Hemisphere coffees to shine, and we're stoked to kick off Southern Hemisphere Africas with Rambagirakawa!
Rambagirakawa is a subgroup of the larger Dukundekawa Musasa Cooperative, made up of quality-driven female farmers, and while last year we called our coffee “Ruli,” this is in fact Huckleberry’s second year roasting coffee from the Rambagirakawa group. Quite frankly, Ruli was a lot easier to say and fit on our labels, and last year’s coffee came specifically from Dukundekawa’s Ruli washing station. This year, we’re roasting coffee from two stations - Nkara and Mblima - so we had to go with all 6 syllables.
We’ve sourced the past several harvest of Rwandan coffee through Artisan Imports, who focuses on working with women’s producer groups in Rwanda. We’ve roasted some delicious coffees, but beyond coffee, all of the groups Artisan works with focus on helping its members attain higher pricing, and re-invest their premiums into w...
