After you've tried the standard yellow fin tuna in the jar, you can graduate to the Ventresca...The most tender and sought after part of the tuna.  Again, Open the can, remove the existing oil, gently take tuna out of can and onto a plate, pour some excellent extra virgin olive oil on top (like Amphora's ultra premium oils, also found in add on section), maybe squeeze a little lemon on top, toast up some lo coco's bread, and dine!  Seriously, do it.

Only 400 cases produced garnering top awards at the SF Chronicle Wine Competition! 100 year family vines produce this outstanding Cab. Red and black fruit fill the palate with notes of cocoa and elegant oak to round it out under a near 3 year maturation process. An excellent wine produced with pride and care by and incredible family.  Great find!

Etna reds are all the rage as of late, not only in Sicily, but recognition of the fine Nerello Mascalese grapes produced on the rich volcanic soil of Mt. Etna is being gained worldwide.   Theresa Eccher, an exquisite multi generation boutique winery nestled 800 meters above see level brings an elevated level of care and “Passione”,  to every bottle they produce.  This Enta Rosso in fact, in order to in their view, demonstrate in its purest form  what this regions has to offer, have done a 100% stainless maturation process with final refinement done in bottle in order to capture the untainted unique quality of the grape.   This is unique for such caliper of grapes/wine, whom almost always see some oak.  They offer such an example as well, however upon hearing the argument made for not doing so, and having had the pleasure of tasting both, I have chosen to present this example to all of you.  I’m saving you the tasting notes as a surprise.  I absolutely love this wine.  Enjoy!

(RARE) Botique organic Italian owned winery producing ultra premium wines. Elegant and silky wine, that’s briary, jammy and plump, with blackberry and currant flavors highlighted by savory underbrush, licorice and smoke notes, leading to medium-grained tannins.

Ettore - Cab/Merlot  18' Mendocino, CA

(RARE) Very few vineyards are able to create what is a true "ALBA" Nebbiolo and Barbera planted and harvested on the same plain. Truly a rare feat. Ermanno Costa's Alba is a wine that unites the acidity and structure of the Barbera with the elegance and tannin of the Nebbiolo. Fantastically balanced and more appreciable out the gate.

This most versatile of wines boast a bouquet of cherry, blackberry, and other small red fruits.   Cascina Alberta still remains true to its roots with all harvesting done by hand and baskets.  Can’t go wrong with this selection!

It is no myth that when Montalcino bought grapes from other parts of Tuscany to, they cornered the entire production of the Monteregio region.  Predominately Sangiovese, with 10% Syrah and 5% Cab Franc.  This “Super Tuscan” gives back way more that you pay for.  Long careful discipline applied at this cantina, upon 18 months in second year French oak you have an exquisitely structured wine the color of ruby garnet just like those Brunellos!

Conti Di San Bonafasio – Monteregio Riserva Super Tuscan 20’ Tuscany, IT

ROERO is a very small DOCG wine district in the hills of Piedmont.  Known for several varietals but none more than the infamous Nebbiolo.  It often plays second fiddle to its more popular compadres in Barolo and Barbaresco, but should it be?  The clear, shiny red ruby tints, aromatic elegant aromas, strong tannin, lends to a savory taste and ever  persistent palate seen only in the finest Nebbiolos.  .All natural processing in the hands of a true artist over a lengthy 2+ years resulted in  this rare and magnificent wine that we are very proud to introduce to you!

From Podere 29’s organic cellars in Puglia comes the highly anticipated “Unio”! A union of sorts of two varietals that put this vineyard on the map with its Nero di Troia and Primitvo.  A Zinfandel by all accounts.  We had carried each varietal in the past but word had spread that they were going to blend the two and add a more complex maturation process including a 6 months period in oak, then stailess, then bottle, adding even more depth and complexity to its upcoming 2018  vintage release nearly two years later. What we got was a big smooth very berry juicy glass of deliciousness with just the slightest hint of oak.

We have been seeking to showcase some of what Sicily has been bringing to the wine world as of late.  Here we have an excellent expression one of the ever more notable Mt Etna terroir wines.  Even more rare is the Etna Bianco.  Both full and dry, a strong aromatic nose, intense yet lively fruit.   This is one of better examples of one of my favorite whites, from the most delightful small, but not lacking in passion and quality, cantinas of Sicily.   All hand harvested organic production of beautiful grapes grown of the rich volcanic soils of Mt.Enta.  Phenomenal.    

Etna Bianco - Theresa Eccher 20' Sicily, IT

StraBIOrdante embodies the notion of ORGANIC to its fullest with its Biodanamic production.  This Vermentino is straw yellow in color boasting hints of vibrant white fruit pleasantly blended with citrus notes.  Its a well structured/balanced wine with great persistence.   Open a bottle on a pleasant afternoon and you'll be hard pressed not to finish it!

“Millesimato” indicates that the sparkling wine is produced with grapes from a single harvest/vintage, as is not often the case with prosecco. The meticulous care is ever present in this sparkling delight.

Not only is everything tasty, the ingredients also look/taste high-quality. Lococo's never disappoints! Their pizza always has that perfect balanace of chewy and tender and they give generous amount of toppings. I always get a side of meatballs, which are perfect on their own or with their house bread. 

The Giovanni Special has always been a favorite but, today was a huge disappointment. The eggplant was huge chunks not slices and some pizza slices had no eggplant and others had chunks 2 inches thick. I good this was just an aberration.
