Iv been a regular customer and bi fan of Rocklands for decades (I had the good fortune to discover their Wisconsin Avenue location when it first no opened and I have been a “regular“ ever since). I usually order their sliced pork sandwich or their thick – sliced brisket. I love Shepherd’s Pie so I ordered it when I discovered it’s the “March Special.” It’s it the best SP I’ve ever had, but it’s pretty good (really good for the price). I’m also a big fan of the cornbread which is available anytime. 

The blueberry pie was delicious. Like homemade.  The brisket sandwich,three meat platter and onion rings were almost refrigerator cold.  Microwaving  takes away from   the meal.  Onion rings do not  miriwave well.  Very disappointing. 

I decided to be adventurous and try something new. The November Special is Thanksgiving in a Bowl! The turkey has a deep, smokey flavor and was nestled on a bed of stuffing and mashed potatoes---with a bit of gravy.  Right on top of everything was a kind of cranberry confit.

Also, the hush puppies were tasty golden nuggets that I suspect will reheat well in the air fryer.

The sausage was very flavorful and the brisket was moist. Both the collards and the corn pudding were very good sides. I really liked the barbecue sauce that came with it as well, it had a really nice vinegary tang to it.
